The most powerful way that we in the West can partner with our brothers and sisters throughout the world is in prayer. In 1 Timothy 2:1, Paul writes “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people”. In our present world of fake news, it can be difficult to know where to get reliable and up to date information to fuel our prayers, however. This is where the brilliant (And massive!) Operation World comes in.
Operation World collates and collects information relevant for prayer about every country in the world. Regularly updated – it is now in it’s seventh edition – this is a doorstop of a book that is cleverly laid out and packed with information. Every country is profiled – with updates from the previous edition reflected both in the raw data and the prayer points – with the exception of South Sudan [link to our page] which didn’t exist at the most recent time of publication.
Have you ever been watching the news, or reading it, and wondered about what life is like in the countries mentioned? Operation World is a one-stop collection of everything you could possibly want to know to inform your prayers. But don’t just take our word for it! Pete Greig, founder of the 24/7 Prayer movement says “Operation World is one of the most important Christian books in the world because it mobilises the church to reliably informed intercession”, whilst George Verwer of OM calls it “probably one of the most important missionary tools in the entire history of missions”.
Why not partner with PTI and hundreds of other mission organisations in prayer? Grab a copy of Operation World, and join us in prayer for the nations. You can find out more about the countries we are working in here.
